Removed Amazon Listing For Mystery Bethesda Game Had A Countdown Attached

Over the weekend, an Amazon listing was found for a mystery unnamed game without any identifying information besides a publisher: Bethesda. It was found and blown up on social media by accounts like deal maven @Wario64 pointing out the oddity. The now-removed game was available in Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions and was able to be preordered on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Perhaps most mysteriously was a single video attached to the listing, stock footage of a countdown with sound of a film reel as it counts down from 10 to 1.

Once the listing got some attention, it was quickly pulled from Amazon without any explanation. The retailer has not responded to a request for clarification, though it is possible they will not until the next business day. If the listing was not an error, it would not be the first time Bethesda has teased a game, as the reveal for Fallout 76 involved a days-long stream of 1950s test footage and a Pip Boy.

Assuming still the listing is real, HD remasters of last generation Fallout games could be reasonable, and indeed might help rehabilitate the brand’s ailing image from the last few months. It could also not be Fallout-related at all, like maybe something Prey or The Evil Within. It’s also possible the listing was just made in error.

It is also a haunting reminder that E3 is only 106 days away.
